The students of Blackrock College have been involved with the GOAL-Aidlink St. Patrick's Day Badge project since 1989. Through the St. Patrick’s Day Badge Project, Aidlink raises money for the Developing World, splitting the money equally between the two implementing organisations Aidlink and Goal.
GOAL is best known for its emergency relief programmes in some of the most troubled parts of the world. If you would like to know more about GOAL you can find them at www.goal.ie
Aidlink is a small organisation that is focused on development work with some of the poorest people in the world. If you would like to know more about Aidlink you can find them at www.aidlink.ie
The students are mainly involved in the selling of the St. Patrick's Day Badges. They are split up into different committees such as Direct Sales, Launch, National Schools, Secondary Schools and Over Seas.
The Direct Sales Committee is involved in the selling of badges to companies and getting the badges into different shops for them to sell on to their customers.
The National Schools Committee is involved in the selling of badges to National Schools in Co. Dublin and Co. Wicklow.
The Secondary Schools Committee deals with secondary schools throughout the country.
The Overseas Committee is involved in selling the badge to Irish expatriates and foreign businesses with Irish Connections. (Click here for a list of the members of the committees)
Badges are primarily sold through schools all around Ireland, and the 5000-strong network of Irish newsagents supplied by Independent Newspapers plc. |
